House activity
The House unanimously passed House Bill (HB) 554. The bill would require the State Board of Education to issue two-year temporary educator licenses to applicants with expired professional teacher's certificates and professional educator licenses as long as certain requirements are met.

Benefits of OSBA Membership

Membership in the Ohio School Boards Association is open to Ohio’s city, exempted village, local and joint vocational school district boards of education, educational service center governing boards and the State Board of Education.

OSBA provides member boards and their school districts with skill building and informative education programs, publications and consultant services. When school boards vote to join OSBA, their administrators and staff are also eligible to participate in OSBA training, services and programs. Many of these events and services are free to members.

State Board of Education
The State Board of Education selected Stephen Dackin by a 14-4 vote to serve as Superintendent of Public Instruction.

School Wellness Toolkit - ODE

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to cause stress, affect emotional well-being and intensify mental health needs. The Protecting Youth Mental Health: The U.S. Surgeon General’s Advisory identified that mental health needs in young people continue to rise with symptoms of anxiety and depression doubling during the pandemic. Though increases in distress symptoms are common during disasters, most people cope well and do not go on to develop mental health disorders. Resiliency can be learned and developed, especially with home, school and community supports.
