House Education and Career Readiness Committee
The committee heard sponsor testimony from Reps. John Patterson (D-Jefferson) and Sarah LaTourette (R-Chesterland) on House Bill (HB) 318. The bill seeks to define certain qualifications and responsibilities for school resource officers.
In 1977, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Abood v. Detroit Board of Education that public-sector unions may be allowed to charge non-members an agency fee, also known as “fair-share.” These fees must be used strictly for the union’s overhead and administrative costs, such as the expenses incurred in negotiating contracts that benefit and apply to all employees, including those who are not dues-paying members of the union.

Dr. Tesia Marshik, associate professor of psychology at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse, makes some very intriguing points about the way we learn. I recently watched a video of Marshik speaking to a group of educators. She challenged their notions about individual learning styles.
