OSBA’s popular Special Education Law Workshop is just two weeks away! This year, the workshop is taking place on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. We’re offering the workshop as a hybrid event for your convenience. You can either join us in person at OSBA’s offices at 8050 North High St. in Columbus or join us virtually on Zoom. Click here to save your spot for the workshop and to access the full agenda.
The workshop will again feature experienced professionals who will cover timely and important topics and who will be available to answer your questions. We will kick off the program with two attorneys from Scott Scriven LLP, Derek Towster and Jessica Dawso, who will discuss the ins and outs of the due process complaint process and how you as district personnel can prepare and optimize your district’s chances for success. Then, in the next session, I will talk about some of the updates to the legal landscape in special education that Ohio district personnel need to know.
Following this, Laura Anthony from Bricker Graydon LLP will talk about how your district can navigate outside prescriptions and recommendations brought in by parents to the special education process. After lunch, Kathy Perrico from Weston Hurd will cover the top ten IEP compliance mistakes that districts make and how to avoid them. We’ll round out the day with Jeremy Neff from Ennis Britton LPA with a discussion about Ohio’s restraint and seclusion rules and how they intersect with district special education obligations.
Be sure to bring your most pressing questions for our speakers. Lunch will be provided for our in-person attendees. The registration fee for the workshop is $200. Please contact OSBA if you have any questions about the workshop or need help with registration. We look forward to seeing you there!
