We know it may be difficult to travel for professional development opportunities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Don’t forget that OSBA has many resources that allow you to learn on your schedule, at your pace and from the comfort of your home. These include:
- Virtual Capital Conference. Registration is now open for OSBA’s 2020 Capital Conference and Trade Show. This year’s conference has been transformed into a virtual event, and will offer more than 60 learning sessions, a Trade Show, networking opportunities, entertainment, and more. You can find more information about the 2020 Capital Conference sessions and register online today at http://conference.ohioschoolboards.org/2020/registration/.
- Virtual workshops and webinars. OSBA has provided virtual training to hundreds of individuals this summer and we’re continuing to host your favorite annual workshops and webinars in a virtual format this fall. Check out https://www.ohioschoolboards.org/events for a list of upcoming training opportunities.
- On-demand webinars. Did you know OSBA has an on-demand learning program that provides access to previously-recorded webinars and sessions? Our current library offers training on many different topics, including district finances, education equity, legal compliance, parliamentary procedure, and more. Content is routinely added to our on-demand library, so consider bookmarking the page and checking back often. You can visit the library online at: https://www.ohioschoolboards.org/events/webinar.
- OSBA podcast. Listen to OSBA’s podcast to stay informed about association news and the issues impacting public education. OSBA’s legal division has recently taped episodes on the legalities of fall sports and COVID-19, addressing the needs of students with disabilities during the pandemic, and holding board of education meetings during the pandemic. You can listen to all of the episodes online at: https://www.ohioschoolboards.org/osba-podcasts.
- Town Hall meetings. The legal division provided a legal update at each of the town hall meetings the association hosted this summer. For access to the recordings from past town hall meetings, visit https://www.ohioschoolboards.org/coronavirus-covid-19-resources.
- OSBA’s Resources by Topic. In case you missed it, OSBA’s legal division also has a “Resources by Topic” page that pulls together statutes, articles, fact sheets, and other resources on close to 50 different topics. These resources answer many of the frequently asked questions we receive on the legal hotline and may help you find the answers to your questions.
Not finding what you need online? Give us a call at 855-OSBA-LAW. We’ll either point you in the right direction or customize a professional development opportunity to fit your needs.
