The Public Employment Risk Reduction Program (PERRP) recently adopted revisions to a number of rules, some of which directly impact public school districts. The 14 revisions become effective Jan. 1, 2019. While some of the changes are minor, a couple may directly impact district obligations. For example, all public employers will be required to maintain needlestick records, as opposed to the current requirement that only public employers of health care workers maintain such records. There also are some significant changes to the rules involving the reporting of fatality or multiple hospitalization accidents. All of these rules were reviewed as a result of the five-year rule review process. You can learn more about the review process here.
