The president represents the association in a variety of ways during the course of the year. The extent of involvement depends on the availability of the president and requires coordination with the executive director. It is important for the president and the executive director to maintain close and continuous communication throughout the year. Included in his/her duties, the president:

  • serves as association spokesperson when appropriate;
  • presides over all meetings of the association and of the Board of Trustees;
  • presides over meetings of the Executive Committee;
  • presides over meetings of the OSBA Delegate Assembly;
  • serves as trustee and presides over meetings of the OSBA Legal Assistance Fund trustees;
  • serves as trustee and presides over meetings of the OSBA Insurance Trust trustees;
  • serves as chair of the Capital Conference Planning Committee;
  • serves as delegate to the COSSBA Delegate Assembly at their annual conference;
  • attends the COSSBA Leadership Conference and the COSSBA Advocacy Conference;
  • attends meetings of Ohio’s education management organizations;
  • appoints ad hoc committee members as needed; and
  • performs such other duties as pertain to the office of president.
