OSBA members: Watch for an email from Hanover Research with a survey to help us determine future professional development offerings and other products and services to better meet your needs.
OSBA will highlight district recognitions in the OSBA Journal and on its website. Submit information and photos of your celebrations by Feb. 8.
Voucher update
House Speaker Larry Householder (R-Glenford) this week told reporters that addressing EdChoice vouchers will be the chamber’s top priority when it returns in January. Any changes made by the legislature to address the exponential growth in eligible buildings must be effective prior to the Feb. 1 voucher application window.
OSBA hosts workshops for new board members in January and workshops for veteran board members in February. New board of education members are invited to register for one of our four Board Member 101: Survival Kit for Your First 90 Days in Office.
Governor activity
A Ripley Union Lewis Huntington Local School District bus driver Donna Fizer recently won a settlement requiring Ohio Association of Public School Employees/AFSCME Local 4 (OAPSE) to refund dues they collected from her paycheck in violation of her First Amendment rights.
Report Card Study Committee
The committee last week met for the final time ahead of its Dec. 15 deadline to submit recommendations on revising the report card. During the hearing, the committee heard testimony from Ross May, chief information officer, Canton City and Chad Henderly, chief information and process officer, Toledo City. As a 2019 Trade Show exhibitor, you have until Jan. 31, 2020 to renew your current contract for 2020. Booths will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis beginning Feb. 4, 2020.
