House activity
The House passed House Bill 62, which funds the state transportation budget. The bill affects school districts by holding them harmless from the bill’s increase in the motor fuel tax rates.

Board's Role in Student Achievement

Effective boards of education impact student achievement, and the more effective the board, the better its district's students perform.  This section of the website examines six leadership qualities and their relationship to student achievement.

There is wide-spread interest in the academic well-being of our students and research shows an undeniable relationship between student achievement and the quality of students’ lives after graduation. District leadership and staff are accountable to the students, families and community for the performance of their students.

State Legislative Conference
This year’s State Legislative Conference is March 19 at the Sheraton Columbus at Capitol Square. The conference provides school board members, superintendents, treasurers and others with a great venue to meet with their state legislators and discuss issues impacting public education.

Week of February 18, 2019

Committee assignments have been announced, and meetings are underway! Rep. Louis W. Blessing III (R-Colerain Township) chairs the House Primary and Secondary Education Committee, and Sen. Peggy Lehner (R-Kettering) chairs the Senate Education Committee. Meanwhile, Reps. Robert R. Cupp (R-Lima) and John Patterson (D-Jefferson) serve as co-chairs of the House Finance Subcommittee on Primary and Secondary Education.
