Governor activity
Gov. Mike DeWine issued an executive order declaring a state of emergency to address the spread of the coronavirus. Additionally, he released other executive orders restricting mass gatherings of over 100 people and the closure of all Ohio schools from the end of the school day on Monday, March 16, through Friday, April 3. This order includes all public, community and private K-12 schools in the state. The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) will release a FAQ to assist districts and the public. Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES)
The State Board of Education adopted the revised OTES framework by a vote of 15-0. The OTES framework is being revised due to legislative changes contained in Senate Bill 216 of the 132nd General Assembly, which required the State Board to revise the standards-based framework for the evaluation of teachers based on the recommendations of the Educator Standards Board.
