The ideal candidate shall demonstrate the following financial leadership characteristics: Strong financial and detail-oriented reporting skills; demonstrate knowledge of state and local funding issues, Ohio laws and regulations about public schools; experience in effective process management and organizational skills; expertise in developing, communicating, and managing business office procedures; experience with and understanding of operating software and procedures; proven ability to work with others – a team player; ability to facilitate educational discussions/decisions through an economic perspective; demonstrate excellent interpersonal and practical communication skills; leadership skills for staff and various finance committees; experience with contract negotiations.

Qualifications:  At least a Bachelor’s Degree or higher with specific emphasis in accounting, finance and management of district finances; appropriate Ohio Treasurer’s Certificate/License; successful leadership experience as a school treasurer in a similar school district; strong team leadership skills and demonstrated ability to work cooperatively as a member of an administrative team; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills to relate effectively with Board of Education, superintendent, staff, students, parents, and community; good critical thinking skills; ability to create and maintain an atmosphere of respect and trust; levy experience would be helpful; aleader with an educator mindset who can promote student learning and achievement.

Key Responsibilities: Serve as the Chief Financial Officer of the school district; oversee, manage and function as required for financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, payroll, accounting, and financial reporting; ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements; communicate and advise the superintendent and board of education on financial matters and long-term financial planning; manage district investments, cash flow, and debt service obligations; work collaboratively with all administration and staff to support the district’s educational mission through sound financial practices, procedures in a timely fashion to continue the financial operations of the district without interruptions.
Preferred Qualifications: Valid Ohio Treasurer’s License (or ability to obtain licensure upon employment); degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; demonstrated experience in public sector financial management or oversite, preferably in a school district or similar government setting; strong understanding of Ohio public school finance laws and regulations; excellent communication, leadership, organizational skills and supportive team member.
