House Government Accountability and Oversight

The committee heard testimony on House Bill (HB) 312 regarding the use of credit cards and debit cards by political subdivisions. OSBA, the Buckeye Association of School Administrators and the Ohio Association of School Business Officials offered interested party testimony on the bill. Senate Education Committee

The committee heard a presentation on the Ohio High School Athletic Association from its executive director, Dr. Dan Ross.

The committee also heard information on HB 170. This bill calls for developing optional academic content standards and model curriculum for computer science. In addition, HB 170 addresses educator qualifications for teaching computer science. No witnesses were present to testify on the bill.

The final bill before the committee was Senate Bill (SB) 216 which would enact the “Ohio Public School Deregulation Act.” Senator Matt Huffman (R-Lima) offered sponsor testimony on the bill.
