State budget activity
Gov. Mike DeWine signed into law House Bill 166, the state biennial budget bill. Before approving the legislation, the governor line-item vetoed 25 provisions, seven of which would have impacted our members. Click here for a discussion of the vetoes.
Funding simulations
Funding simulations for fiscal years 2021 and 2022 are available for school districts, which can be accessed here, and for joint vocational school districts, which can be accessed here. Simulations for educational service centers are not yet available.
Joint Education Oversight Committee
The committee heard testimony on the Progress component of the state report card. Witnesses who provided testimony included Stephanie Eichenberg, board member, Toledo City. Click here to read her testimony.
Senate Judiciary Committee
The committee conducted a first hearing on Senate Bill 143, sponsored by Sen. Sandra R. Williams (D-Cleveland). The bill creates the offense of aggravated bullying, which is a third-degree misdemeanor.
