Being a teenager can be stressful. There is pressure at home, at school and with their friends. Social media and its impact on their life adds another element of stress. Everyone has a breaking point. When some reach that point, suicide may seem to be the only option to end all the stress, pressure and pain.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, suicide is the third leading cause of death among persons aged 10-14 and the second among persons aged 15-34 years. In 2016, the suicide rate reached a 30-year high in America. In order to assist school districts in supporting students and families, OSBA has compiled research-based information regarding student suicide. Please contact us with questions or specific needs as we are here to partner with you to support our students.
