Student Athletics
Boards of education are required to adopt a board policy requiring students in grades seven through 12 to attain a minimum grade point average, established by the board, as a condition of participation in interscholastic extracurricular activities. Boards also are required to adopt a policy either prohibiting or allowing student participation when a student has received a failing grade for any class during the previous grading period. In addition to board policy and administrative guidelines regarding student eligibility and participation in interscholastic extracurricular activities, districts also must adhere to the rules and regulations set forth by the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA).
